Sonnenglas Staff Badge Policy

Sonnenglas issues company badges for the means of security, identification and also employer branding. All Sonnenglas employees are required to wear their company-issued badges visibly at all times while on the company premises or at external events representing SONNENGLAS. Badges should be worn in a manner that is clearly visible to others.
Certain SOPs might be able to give different instructions for safety-related means. Please refer to the respective SOP in that case.
Authentication and Personal Use:
The company badge is not only a requirement to access the company's premises but also serves as a form of personal authentication. It is strictly prohibited for an employee to allow someone else to use their badge or to use another person’s badge. This is a critical security measure, as badges are personal like an ID and are meant to uniquely identify and grant access rights to the individual to whom they are issued. Misuse of badges, such as sharing or swapping, is considered a severe violation of company policy and will result in disciplinary action.
Badge Care and Responsibility:
Employees are responsible for the care and safekeeping of their badges.
Lost or damaged badges due to negligence will result in a replacement fee of 200 ZAR, which will be deducted from the employee’s salary.
The first issuance of the badge and any subsequent replacements due to normal wear and tear or changes in employee details (e.g., name or title changes) will be provided at no cost.
Lanyard Replacement:
Worn-out lanyards, due to normal wear and tear, will be replaced free of charge, but not more than 2 lanyards per year. Additional lanyards can be purchased for 80 ZAR.
Reporting Lost Badges:
In the event of a lost badge, employees must report the loss to the management team within 1 business day of discovering the loss. This prompt reporting is crucial to ensure the security of our premises and maintain the integrity of our access control system. Failure to report a lost badge within this timeframe may result in additional disciplinary action, according to the company’s disciplinary procedures.
Ownership and Return of Badge:
The company badge is the property of SONNENGLAS and is provided to employees for use during their employment. Upon termination of employment, whether voluntary or involuntary, the employee is required to return the badge to their supervisor on their last day of work. Failure to return the badge may result in a deduction from the employee’s final salary or other legal action, as per company policy and in accordance with applicable laws.
